Popular micro pub branches out as community coffee shop

After 3 successful years as a micro pub, today sees the launch of the Pup and Duckling’s new coffee shop venture which will see the community focused hostelry open its doors on weekdays for coffee, cake and light bites available to patrons of all ages.

Jeff and Sue Berry opened the micro pub back in February 2016 and in that time they have developed a very successful business serving up an ever changing range of craft ales and ciders. In that time the Pup and duckling has been recognised as CAMRA’s Solihull Pub of the Year in 2017 which is a tremendous achievement after only 12 months of trading.

In March 2016, Jeff and Sue began hosting a weekly quiz night with all proceeds raised being donated to the Young Carers Team at Carers Trust Solihull. The running total for the past 3 years is now over £9,000 an absolutely fantastic amount for a small business to raise to support our service an , not only that, they have provided the quiz prizes every week which amounts to a significant personal donation which ensures that there are regular quiz teams attending every Thursday evening.

As fundraising friends of Carers Trust Solihull, we would like to wish Jeff and Sue and The Pup and Duckling every success with the new coffee shop venture. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for the time, effort and personal donations they contribute to supporting Young Carers in Solihull.

From this week, The Pup and Duckling Coffee shop will be open on weekdays from 8am to 4pm and everyone is welcome there. The pub is open Wednesday to Saturday 5 to 10pm and Sundays 12 to 3pm for adults only. Quiz night is every Thursday between 7.30 and 10pm – £2 per person to enter; teams of up to 6 people – get there early to grab a table.

The Pup is a great community venue to meet up with friends and family for an evening drink and now it will provide a much needed palatial space in Elmdon to catch up over delicious coffees and scrumptious cakes. Give it a go and you will receive a very warm welcome from Jeff and Sue whatever time of day you choose to drop-in.
